This is the second in a short series of reports arising from the NFER project 'Effective Behaviour Management in Schools'. It relays findings from an interview programme in over 20 primary, secondary and special schools and from a survey of senior mangers in some 150 secondary schools, who were asked about the existence and efficacy of nil exclusion as a policy. This report will contribute to the on-going debate on education and social inclusion and should be relevant to policy makers and practitioners, as well as to those researching in the area of exclusion.
