Synopsis
This short report is the first of a series on disaffected pupils. An overview is given of innovations in 30 schools which are attempting to tackle the serious problem of disaffection. The report provides an account of what educational professionals see as the main causes of disaffection: individual factors, family factors and school factors. Issues are discussed in a way which will be of particular interest to school managers, LEA personnel, in-service trainers and educational welfare staff.
