About the Author

Jeffrey L. Williams, MD, MS, FACC, FHRS, CPE, has an extensive background in cardiac care. While attending Vanderbilt, he majored in biomedical and electrical engineering. After receiving a master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Williams went on to medical school at Drexel University. He completed a five-year fellowship in both cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He is also board certified in internal medicine.

Dr. Williams’s work in engineering and cardiology has been praised in academic and clinical settings. He founded the only community hospital-based heart rhythm center in the US to have published outcomes for defibrillator and pacemaker implantations as well as EP studies and ablations using high frequency jet ventilation. In 2015, he was elected governor of the Pennsylvania chapter of the American College of Cardiology. He currently works in the Lakeland Regional Health System as an assistant quality and medical informatics officer.
