When I began my strength building journey a few years ago, I quickly came to an important realization. The vast majority of real strength training programs are written by – and for – those who lift weights for a living. This makes a significant difference in terms of the resources one is able to dedicate to strength training – especially time. For the most part, the programs that aren’t written by professional strength athletes are steaming piles of crap designed to do little more than perpetuate the “fitness” scam that is creating a generation of humans who can do a whole lot of kipping pull-ups but couldn’t climb out of a burning building to save their own life. The Nephilim Barbell Program is designed for normal humans who have to balance a real job and real life with the goal of becoming freakishly strong.

John Thacker Jr. was born to a Coast Guard family, and spent his early years moving from coast to coast every few years. The experience exposed him to many different people and cultures, and allowed him to develop the ability to adapt quickly to change. In college, John wrestled for his school, after which he never really stopped going to the gym. John developed this program while earning his MBA from the University of Louisville, and continues to use the Nephilim Barbell Program to this day. The Nephilim Barbell Program is designed for busy professionals, and John fits the mold, having earned his black belt in Lean Six Sigma and using it to transform the logistics industry. John lives in beautiful Edina Minnesota with his trophy wife and two kids (one boy and one girl), and enjoys living a balanced and full life that includes moving heavy objects around for fun.
