Synopsis
Good Enough for the Richest, Open to the Poorest chronicles the process of creating a self-sustaining school using learner-centered methods consistent with the latest educational research, respecting the students, while making education accessible to indigent adolescent girls in rural Kenya. The stories reflect the immense challenges, the heartbreak, and the passionate determination of the school’s founders, Teresa Wasonga and Andrew Otieno. The book presents a model – but not a blueprint – for how to build a school when very limited funding and other resources are available. It is hoped that others will be inspired to create successful schools even when the path is blocked by countless obstacles. All proceeds from the sale of our book go to the JAMS school!
