Synopsis

The sun was the brightest that I’d ever seen and the sky was as blue as a whiffit is green, when we took the field and the krumpball was thrown to the first of Growl’s hitters—a hitter well-known.

About the Author

The author has had a love affair with the game of baseball as far back as he can remember and started playing when he was six years old because his older brother’s team of seven-to-eight-year-olds needed a catcher. James wasn’t afraid of the ball, so they strapped on the armor and handed him a glove. How could life have been any better? As a child, James watched with pure joy Disney’s classic cartoons, “Casey at the Bat” and “Casey Bats Again.” Additionally, Dr. Seuss books frequented his childhood home and left their whimsical mark on the right side of his brain. In his teens James stumbled upon the best baseball short story of all times, “Jackpot Versus Yellowstrike,” by Michael Oblinger. The National Baseball Congress must have had its roots feeding off of that story, or so James says, because that’s where the essence of hometown team rivalries is epitomized. A mixture of these influences became the delayed catalyst for The Traad Tritons. James holds a BA in Liberal Arts, a Professional Certification in PM, and an MS in Management, as well as several other lesser acronyms. He doesn’t actually “hold” them, but he claims that they are resting in a drawer somewhere in his residence. He retired from a major aerospace company in 2010 after a thirty-year career in PLM and PMA, during which time he discovered that he was an “intrepreneur.” He wasn’t sure what that meant at the time, but he now teaches Entrepreneurship and Management classes part-time at a nearby college, while dabbling in music, antiques, collectibles, and spinning yarns. James isn’t quite sure about what he wants to be when he grows up, but he hopes to figure it out sometime soon. He is frequently heard muttering “too many irons and not enough fire,” so his family isn’t hopeful that he will find his label in this life.
