This book was started as a final project for my masters degree in construction management. The purpose of this final project was to discuss and research the practice of predatory contracting. Research provides a clear understanding of predatory contracting as a standard of practice. Whether morally, ethically or illegally instituted; it is a common practice within the construction industry. It is often camouflaged and concealed by exceeding minority participation goals. Often, the construction community asks: "Why are there no qualified minority contractors?" Others ask: "Why aren't any minority contractors emerging from this construction environment?"

About the Author

As principle in charge, Jonathan Farrar oversees company operations worldwide. His firm, Structure Building Company Inc., focuses on construction-related services. Mr. Farrar is the chairman of the North Carolina Chapter of the National Association of Minority Contractors. He has served on the North Carolina A & T State University Construction Management Advisory Board and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill HUB Advisory Board. Mr. Farrar received his B.S. degree from Morehouse College and received his Masters in Construction Management from East Carolina University. He is currently a doctoral candidate in business administration and lives in North Carolina.
