R. García Vázquez has been a landscaper, factory worker, photography darkroom manager, security systems technician, newspaper delivery district coordinator, fire alarm salesman, desktop publisher, and newsletter editor. For a number of years the author taught writing at Brookdale Community College in New Jersey, as well as at Essex and Middlesex County Colleges. García Vázquez later became a senior technical writer in support of logistics and communications systems for the US Army at Ft. Monmouth, NJ and Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, and for Naval Air (NAVAIR) at Lakehurst, NJ. The author was born and raised in Newark, NJ and holds B.S. and M.A. degrees from Rutgers University.
