(Harvard was unaware of the Lowell work, and corroborated its authenticity.) This includes some tough, surprising writing. The Louis Begley/Anka Muhlstein essay on Jerome Robbins was the last significant piece written with Robbins’s blessing prior to his death--by two people unusually close to this complicated man and his work. Elise Paschen’s poem takes metaphorical revenge on George Balanchine for leaving her mother, Maria Tallchief, for art and another woman.
