A celebration of women by four very gifted and very different photographers. Gilles Larraine offers a contemplative view of the nude; Robert Mapplethorpe works out of the psychological insight of the revolutionary; Deborah Turbeville is involved with the idea of lost time; Roy Volkmann asks physical strength from his models and seeks contradictions. Each of the photographs, all stunningly in black and white, appear on their own single page. At the conclusion there are biographical sketches of the photographers and a listing, organized by photographer, of the names of the models. Though this is not a "celebrity" collection by any means, some of the models are Kathleen Turner, Glenn Close, Susan Lucci, Jane Seymour, Karen Allen, Susan Sarandon, and Deborah Harry.
