About the Author
Orion N. Hutchinson, Jr., was formerly the senior pastor of Memorial United Methodist Church of Thomasville, North Carolina. He is now serving as a preacher and teacher at Epworth Methodist Conference Center, St. Simons Island, Georgia.

Luke begins at the very beginning. He tells us more about the events surrounding the birth of Jesus than any of the other Gospels. These impressive events are to underline the spiritual importance of the personhood of Jesus. Luke introduces us to John the Baptist and includes the account of his baptizing Jesus with a description which again underlines the spiritual significance of Jesus.
