Synopsis

It follows a logical progression beginning with the basic foundations, examination of the patient, specific disc conditions, and MacNab's philosophy for treating low back pain. It provides a fundamental description of all lumbar spinal disorders, with an emphasis on the degenerative spine. The book includes information on topics such as disability assessment for insurance purposes, and low back pain in pregnancy, paediatrics and sports medicine. It also has a discussion and illustrations of degenerative and non-degenerative spine conditions. This edition contains many more diagrams and MRIs explaining diagnosis and procedure, a new introductory chapter on surgical anatomy, and several new chapters containing material on the treatment of back problems.
