Formerly entitled "The AutoCad Textbook", this new edition integrates Release 11 and has five new chapters on the applications of AutoCAD: in architecture; civil engineering; electrmechanics; electronics; and technical illustration. Adopting a practical approach, the book guides students through the commands required to use AutoCAD effectively, by producing drawings that are suitable for industry. Coverage presents commands in a sequence similar to that in a manual drafting text, and the commands are supported by proven examples of their implementation. There are also a number of drawings illustrating the nature of the finished product. One feature of this text that differentiates it from many others is the attention given to editing, altering and diagnosing flaws in drawings. There is also a chapter on menu customizing. Finally, there is an appendix on DOS commands.
