Synopsis
In 1946, harvard university embarked on a study in western new mexico to undertake a comprehensive study comparing five distinct cultures: navaho, zuni, spanish-american, mormon, and texan homesteaders. Field workers carried on research in the area to observe and study these societies and their interaction. This illustrated books reports the results. Discussed in detail are the geographical and cultural settings, intercultural relations, the learning of values, kinship systems, ecology and economy, political structure, and religious systems. Arts and recreational activities are included.
