There are a massive number of SQL Server installations in the world, replication works across all versions of the product offering from SQL Server Enterprise Edition to the free versions (currently named MSDE and SQL Server for CE). Although replication is commonly used to solve various business problems like offline/online data applications; geographical failover and general site autonomy, there are exceptionally few books dedicated to the subject (i.e. less than 3). Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Replication is the first book dedicated to documenting the internals and deployment guide of replication and of course, SQL Server 2005 replication.
Although commonly deployed, replication is regarded as "blackbox," and so very little is understood with regards to its underlying workings, correct deployment, administration and problem solving. By reading this book, you will gain these skills. Authored by the SQL Server 2005 product team to provide advanced explanation of how different replication features work and how they can be used in business, this book is truly the definitive guide to SQL Server 2005 Replication.
