From the Author

A reference guide -- and then some!
As a longtime VB programmer, I've often found it difficult to find the information I need. One of my goals in writing this book was to include the kind of reference information that is not readily available; for example, the sequences of events for Forms, UserControls, and UserDocuments. This kind of info has been placed in a special 300-page reference section at the end of the book for easy access.

The other 800+ pages of the book cover more advanced topics that are important to the VB developer: object-oriented programming, ActiveX control creation, advanced database programming, using Crystal Reports, MAPI and TAPI programming, using Office 97 and OLE Automation, accessing the Registry, and much more. There's so much information crammed into this book, Sams had to include nine chapters on the accompanying CD-ROM because the book would be too big otherwise!

I've made my best effort to ensure that everything in the VB5 Unleased Professional Reference Edition is as ! accurate as possible, and that all of the samples work as promised. I'm very satisfied with the results, and I hope you will be too! I'd love to hear what you think, and any suggestions you might have for future editions.
