BERNARD SHAW - COLLECTED LETTERS 1911-1925 VOL. 3 - EDITED BY DAN H. LAURENCE: This is volume 3 of Bernard Shaw letters. They have been skillfully collected, edited and annotated by Dan H. Laurence. The period covered, 1911 to 1925, is the most disturbing and frustrating years in the dramatist's life. He indulges in an astonishing flirtation with a noted actress. He's plunged into a nightmare world of war and insanity. His muse suddenly deserts him. Then unexpectedly, he writes some of his most critically acclaimed masterpieces including Saint Joan. This volume contains six hundred Shaw letters, many hitherto unpublished, addressed to a vast range of correspondents including J. Ramsay MacDonald, Stanley Baldwin, H.G. Wells, Auguste Rodin, Lawrence Of Arabia and many others. They are lively, witty, provocative, controversial and persuasive. The volume is abundantly illustrated with newly discovered portraits of Shaw and of many of his correspondents.
