Original Hardcover with the rare illustrated dustjacket in protective collector's Mylar. Very good condition with only minor signs of external wear. Inscribed and signed by Stanley Cavell on the front free endpaper. Several pages have annotations as well as a minor entry on rear pastedown in pencil. Includes chapters such as: Baudelaire and the Myths of Film / Excursus: Some Modernist Painting / The Acknowledgement of Silence / The Dandy / The Military Man and the Woman / The Medium and Media of Film etc.
