Excerpt from Die Brahmanen in der Alexandersage

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book analyzes texts from antiquity about the Indian wise men known as Brahmins, whose customs and beliefs captivated the ancient world. Through an examination of a variety of sources, including a letter attributed to a Greek ambassador and accounts from writers and historians such as Strabo and Plutarch, the book explores how the Brahmins' ascetic lifestyle, philosophical teachings, and rejection of material possessions challenged the norms of the time. The author delves into the Brahmins' dietary habits, their belief in reincarnation, and their emphasis on self-reliance and inner peace. By situating these texts within their historical context, the book sheds light on the enduring fascination with the Brahmins and the ways in which their ideas continue to resonate throughout history.
