Synopsis
After the Second World War, among the documents found at Nag Hammadi, in Upper Egypt was the Epistle to the Rheginos concerning the Resurrection. In the this volume Dr Peel offers a full commentary on the Epistle. He discusses its place in the Nag Hammadi Library, the nature of its language and content, its use of the New Testament, the nature of its eschatology and, not least, its authorship. It includes a new translation, with analysis of the argument of the Epistle and full exegetical and philological notes. The result is a study of fundamental importance, which casts further light on the development of Christian doctrine in the first centuries of our era.
