Et d'abord ce qui frappe, quand on considère un insecte, quand on le tourne et le retourne dans sa main, c'est qu'il est composé de trois parties la tête, le thorae et l'abdomen. Par exemple, si l'on prend le corps d'une guêpe, il est facile de le séparer en trois seg ments, comme le représente la figure 1. Pour faire le tour de l'in secte, nous allons donc examiner la structure de ces trois par ties essentielles du corps de notre animal.

La tête (fig. 2) est une sorte de boîte, formée d'une seule pièce, portant çà et là. Quelques sutures, plus ou moins marquées.
