Synopsis

Excerpt from A Handbook of Practical Forms: Containing a Variety of Useful and Select Precedents Required in Solicitors Offices, Relating to Conveyancing and General Matters, With Numerous Variations and Suggestions

The popularity of books of Forms is a very noticeable feature in the legal literature Of to-day; nor is the fact to be wondered at: for drafting documents without the aid of a guiding form is, beyond controversy, the most arduous and responsible of all tasks which fall to the lot of the lawyer. It is so easy to overlook some material point, so difficult to provide for every contingency, and this is still more the case where the subject is one with which the draftsman does not happen to be familiar. The solicitor is a man Of affairs and sees many sides of life, but of him, as of every one else, the maxim is true N on omnia possumus omnes. It is quite impossible for him, with all his experience, to spin forms out of his consciousness to fit all occasions.
