When it was decided some time ago to start a thorough investigation into the merits of ﬂexible roller bearings in comparison with ordinary plain bearings for mine-car use, it was clearly seen that it would be very desirable to design a special testing device for that purpose. A device has been designed by the author in the form of a dynamometer car. This car is absolutely self - contained and is intended to be placed in front of the cars that are to be tested and behind the locomotive.
