IN my last lecture I conducted you through what is called the Palaeozoic period of geology. You will recollect I pointed out to you, in that lecture, that geologists roughly divided the time, during which the earth has been undergoing geological transformations, into three gmet ages: the Palaeozoic, or ancient age; the Mesozoic, or middle age; and the Cainozoic, or recent age.
