From the Author

The success of Editing Made Easy has been nothing short of overwhelming. The interest and demand have really surprised me.

As a professional newspaper sub-editor (copy editor) and editorial trainer, I wrote this book because I believed there was a need.

Sure, there are plenty of books about editing, but they all seem too complex and too technical - not to mention far too expensive. A person wanting to learn the basics of good editing and plain English has little need for a costly tome largely devoted to explaining the secrets of computerised page design, or to explaining the difference between a transitive and an intransitive verb (yawn).

So I set out to write a 'friendly' book that explains the secrets of editing in no-nonsense, non-technical language - a book that everyone can understand. I also wanted the book to be affordable.

And so Editing Made Easy was born.

I hope you enjoy it and find useful.
