David Butler has had 45 years of professional life–an ever-changing mix of clinical work, research, education and writing. An Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of South Australia and honoured member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association, David has taught manual therapy and pain treatments to 40,000 students worldwide and has delivered invited lectures at over 50 international conferences.
Lorimer Moseley’s contribution to pain science, management and education has led to honours from government or professional societies in 14 countries. He was the IASP’s inaugural Ulf Lindblom Clinical Science Prize winner, has won Australia’s most prestigious prize for Innovation and Potential Transformation in Health and Medical Research, and is the only international recipient of the American Pain Society’s Prize for Public Service.
Hayley Leake completed her physiotherapy training and PhD at the University of South Australia, where she now works as a researcher. She was a clinician on the RESOLVE randomized clinical trial for chronic pain in Sydney, which formed the basis of this book. She maintains an honorary research fellowship at Neuroscience Research Australia (NeuRA).
James McAuley is a psychologist and professor in the School of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health at University of NSW, and a senior research scientist at NeuRA. James’ research combines experimental, clinical and translational methods to develop and test new interventions to manage low back pain with more than 300 peer-reviewed articles.
Ben Wand is a physiotherapist and professor of musculoskeletal physiotherapy at the University of Notre Dame, Australia. He completed his physiotherapy degree, as well as postgraduate qualifications in sports science and musculoskeletal physiotherapy, in Sydney before undertaking his PhD at Brunel University in London, where he investigated physiotherapy management of low back pain.
