hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Hardcover with dust jacket. Bound in navy blue cloth with golden lettering along spine. Clean with little wear. White jacket with red text across covers and along spine, in acceptable condition but more worn than the book itself. Large open tear at bottom left corner of the front cover, smaller closed tears at either side of crown of spine. None render any text illegible. Some light staining and scuffing along edges, likely due to shelf wear. Sticker near foot of spine reading "ONEN." Corners bumped. Binding is tight and secure. "ONEN" written again on FFEP. Rothschild contributes the section titled "Secondary plant substances and warning colouration in insects" (pages 59-83). Miriam Rothschild (1908-2005), British zoologist, entomologist & author, was the daughter of Charles Rothschild of the Rothschild family of Jewish bankers. She was a leading authority on fleas, & was the first person to work out the flea's jumping mechanism. Rothschild wrote about 350 papers on entomology, zoology and other subjects. This volume is Number Six of the Symposia of the Royal Entomological Society of London series. Several contributors. Illustrated with numerous b&w photographs, figures & tables throughout.
