Synopsis
Narrating the trials and tribulations of the rise of South African super group The Parlotones “Sold Out!” is a retelling of what it took for the band to get where they are from a management perspective. Often funny and entertaining and sometimes brutally honest Raphael takes the reader on a journey filled with up and downs complete with insights into the planning and strategic thinking involved in taking a start-up band from zero to hero. The multi-platinum selling Johannesburg-bred quartet have headlined the 20,000-seater Coca Cola Dome in their hometown in 2009, performed at the World Cup Kick-off Concert to an audience of a billion in 2010, and were handpicked by Coldplay to open the British band’s stadium shows in Johannesburg and Cape Town in 2011.
