Synopsis

Even St. Paul wonders why he does the bad things that he does not intend and does not do the good things that he does intend (Romans 7:19-25). The ability to examine ourselves may be elusive, but it is not impossible, but, more often than not, we look at the end result, rather than our motivations for why we do the things that we do. This is at the heart of spirituality. The title, "Remove the Stone," refers to Jesus' invitation to people to remove the stone from Lazarus' tomb, so that he can rise to new life. We, too, are invited to new life by examining the blockages that exist in our lives that prohibit life, true life, from flowing through us. "Remove the Stone" is about looking closely at the root cause of our blocks, so that, by unblocking, we can realize healing and new life, which will change the fruit.

About the Author

Fr. Marc Lanoue is a priest of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, ordained in 2009 after a career of twelve years in Information Technology. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Religion from Williams College, a Bachelor’s degree in Sacred Theology from St. Mary’s Seminary and University; a Master’s degree in Theology from the University of Notre Dame, and a Ph. D. in Biblical Studies from The Catholic University of America. He is working on a second book about leadership in the Church and its relationship to the New Evangelization.
