Synopsis

Felicity Rush's story takes you on a journey through a maze of tragic, yet all too common events experienced by many growing up in the Baby-Boomer era. FOLLOW as she leads you through her life as a broken little girl, manipulated and harmed by the people closest to her, starting with her mother. IDENTIFY with her struggles as a reclusive, untrusting, unfulfilled adolescence and young woman. REJOICE with her as she finds herself and her place in the world, in the least likely place, the deathbed of her mother. SOAR with her as she awakens to emerge victoriously in the autumn of her years. Born a twin, yet separated at birth from her brother by an emotionally crippled mother. Felicity finds herself navigating the troubled water of a family, steeped in old traditions, foolish notions and constant Fagan family feuding. She, her twin brother and two sisters all volleying for a place closer to their mother's heart, battle for the pinnacle of the Fagan Clan Totem Pole. In the scramble Felicity tumbles further and further away from the most important position of all, her rightful bond with her twin brother, Finnigan. Felicity, with the spirit of a cowgirl born in the wrong era, finds her escape on the back of a horse. Running, running, until the day she runs into Sidney Cook, the first human she truly connects with, the only man who ever captures her heart. Felicity battles her way through a life from destiny to death to discovery. In the end all people, places and events teach her that she is not alone. No creature on earth, including humans, ever escape the cruel, but natural method used to establish the hierarchy of the species; "The Pecking Order"

About the Author

Phyllis A. Hoffman is a native of Modesto, California. She feels she was blessed when born into the life of a country girl. Her two passions, storytelling and horses. Her love for the "Cowboy Way" life and wish to preserve its importance has led her to the genre of Cowboy Poetry and Trail Tale Music. At Sixty-five she still rides horses and Harley as often as possible. She writes for the pleasure of doing so. Having chronicled her life in verse she decided it was time to share her story. This is her first book, an Autobiographical Novel. She believes everyone has a story. This is her's, could it be yours? "The Pecking Order"
