This is a story about autism told alongside the places that we, Scott and Monika Knight, have traveled to with our son John who is severely autistic.
We live with autism, and it is both difficult and joyful. We share our story to reflect on our perspectives and to invite understanding.

Monika Scheele Knight, born in 1972 in Oldenburg. Studied in Germany, France, and the U.S. and graduated from the Free University of Berlin with a master’s degree in Comparative Literature. Works as a freelance translator, travel director, and patient representative in the Federal Joint Committee, Germany’s highest political body for health care benefits. Lives with Scott and John in Berlin, Germany.
