When Farmer Brown's cows start leaving him typed notes and demanding better conditions, a stand-off is inevitable--until neutral Duck steps in to mediate. Doreen Cronin's original storyline is perfectly complemented by the bold illustrative style of Betsy Lewin in this refreshingly unsentimental picture book.
