Synopsis
Set in a fictional Mississippi town at various times throughout the Twentieth Century, the stories in this collection show many facets of one large story. As with all of human existence, the tales contain humor, melodrama, tragedy, and romance, and together they paint a picture of a South that never was, but should have been.

The book's narrator and sometime detective, tracks down the elusive but cherished stories of his family's deeply entwined and sometimes bewildering relationships. Starting with his imposing Aunt Sophronie and her more moderate sister Eulalie, McPherson excavates the hopeful triumphs and social failures of his peculiar and flawed but memorable family. From wise elders to outrageous spinsters, they run the gamut of the rich and diverse humanity found in the fiction of southern icons like O'Connor. These sketches may appeal to fans of Fried Green Tomatoes and other comedic jabs at the South.

About the Author
R.A. Moulds was born in Maryland in 1958, but his family was originally from Mississippi. Thus, he can do a fair imitation of Aunt Eulalie, and she has been presented at various readings in the Baltimore area. Mr. Moulds studied musicology and composition at the University of Southern Mississippi, and currently lives in Baltimore. Porch Swing Stories is his first book, and he is working on another novel set in his home state.
