Halia has been taking care of herself since she was orphaned twenty years ago. She has been trained as a thief and uses those skills to survive against magical creatures and ruthless enemies inhabiting her world.
One night, as Halia is walking through the woods, she happens upon the ruins of an ancient castle. Within the castle, she discovers an unusual treasure, hidden and well-protected. Instead of gold or jewels, it is a small, crystal sphere.
After finding her way back to civilization, Halia meets a wizard named Minaras. She is hopeful that this brilliant wizard and his apprentices can help her unlock the secrets of the sphere. But the information that could solve the mystery has been stolen from Minaras's personal library; the missing page of an ancient Arboreal text is only the first in a long string of clues.
Halia soon connects with two other adventurers who own similar spheres: the powerful sorcerer, Ahriman, and Xarun, a brutish warrior. Together, they journey across the land and through magical worlds as they hunt for answers about the spheres. One of the travelers, however, has a secret agenda-one that could prove deadly for all.
