Sara Enochs wants to share her story to help parents like herself who are struggling to accept autism spectrum diagnoses. At first her son's diagnosis didn't feel right, and Sara denied there was an issue.. Then, she became angry and sad all at the same time. Eventually, she was taught about dignity and how to acknowledge acceptance by believing in her child's unique way of experiencing this world. By educating the general public in awareness and understanding, children need to know that their families and communities will support their uniqueness as they try so hard to fit into this society and its unspoken rules. She believes that children come with gifts, and it's our destiny as parents to help our children find and foster those gifts through love and understanding. In doing so, we can be our children's best advocates.
Sara graduated from Arizona State University earning two degrees, majoring in Biology and Spanish. She continued her graduate studies at the University of California, Berkeley, studying Molecular Biology and Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary while working at The Center for Theology and Natural Sciences. Sara currently lives in Phoenix, Arizona, with her husband, Charlie, and their four children.
