9780595187997: The Hidden Ribs: Poetry About Famous or Interesting Women in History

Synopsis

I have made history interesting by the use of poetry. Cleopatra, Pocahontas, Catherine the Great, and many other famous and interesting women are included in this thorough poetry. The first women to vote, and the first doctor, both took their places in history because of a strange twist. Paul Revere only traveled half the distance as a young teenager. Who was the teenage girl who struck out the Babe? The Hidden Ribs was written in order to highlight women in history, both famous and interesting. I chose poetry as the format to keep it flowing. Often a story will fade, whereas, a poem will last forever. You will find laughter, tears, truth and memories in these histories. There is more history in these poems than any twenty books you will ever read, and you will not have to suffer boredom. Enjoy these poems and pass them down to your daughters, grand daughters, and to their children.

From the Author

Throughout the past and much of the present, women have been pushed to the back and relegated to the role of followers. However, some women refused to stay in the background; these individuals stumbled through to the forefront. Once there, history could no longer ignore thier presence. History is usually quite boring, but I endeavored to make these accounts as interesting as possible. Simply put, I read the boring parts, so the reader would not have to waste time. Basic intentions included an extreme attempt to keep these histories as accurate as humanly possible. I chose the medium of poetry because I was tired of writing in the normal manner and a poem will often stick when a story will often fade. I encourage all that read these poems to search the library or web pages to find out more about the individuals I included. Women's history is barely out of the prehistoric age and with that said, I encourage everyone to dig for other hidden ribs.

About the Author
