Granny will be 80 years old. She hates it! Why?
Granny Little, the feisty grandmother in the Little family, isgoing to be eighty years old on the Fourth of July and she doesn't like the idea at all. When she was a young girl she made up her mind that she would live to be eighty. Now, when she's about to be eighty, she thinks she's too old. The family worries as Granny seems more and more depressed. They determine to cheer her up by having a wonderful surprise birthday party for her and inviting all the old lady's friends and relatives. Granny's best and oldest friend, Zelda Short doesn't come-- says she's afraid to fly in Cousin Dinky's plane. Granny and Dinky fly to Zelda's house to fetch her. At Granny's suggestion Zelda keeps her eyes closed during the return trip-- it works! At party's end Tom and Lucy Little, with help from Uncle Pete, put on a rousing play about Little Red Riding Hood and the wolf. And Cousin Dinky sings a song he dedicates to Granny...off key!
