Synopsis
This story is based on an incident recorded in the anonymous Icelandic saga 'Freysgoda'. These events took place around the year 998 AD. Captured by the fearsome Thorfinn Redbeard, the little Angle girl, Elf, is dragged aboard the Viking longboat bound or slavery. The drudgery of her new life in Iceland is made tolerable by the friendship of Olaf. But he unwittingly leads her into danger. Together they ride a sacred pony, and the penalty for the offence is death. As they flee from the pursuing Icelanders, Elf and Olaf find themselves running towards an even greater threat, and erupting volcano. It seems that there is no escape...
