Synopsis
Niko, a young Greek boy, convinced that he is cut out for better things than minding goats all day, dreams up various wild schemes for bettering his lot. He escapes to the mountains and joins a gang of bandits. With the panache of his countryman Zorba and the cunning of his predecessor Tom Sawyer, he persuades the bandits to kidnap his cousin, Katerina, and hold her to ransom. But this plot only draws Niko deeper and deeper into trouble . . .
