Synopsis
Arc/Info is one of the most widespread Geographic Information Systems. This book offers a "hands on" introduction to the basics of GIS in the context of completing an Arc/Info project. It introduces basic concepts of GIS and overviews the functions and capabilities of Arc/Info. By the end of the book a small GIS project will have been completed, a digital spatial database will have been developed and designed, spatial analysis will have been performed, a map will have been created and a short report written; and users of the method should have gained an understanding of Arc/Info and have the confidence to apply it to their own work. The book is aimed at professional users of GIS particularly those with Arc/Info software. It should also be useful to students of GIS, based mainly in departments of geography, environmental science, biology, planning and engineering.
