These notes are based on a series of lectures given at Hokkaido University, Japan in 1986, and their purpose is to introduce the theory of reproducing kernels from the viewpoint of hard analysis and soft analysis. The main argument of the notes is that both types of analysis should be combined. Soft analysis means the general theory of reproducing kernels established by Nachman Aronszajn, while hard analysis means the theories of complex analysis of one variable developed by Stefan Bergman, Menahem Schiffer, Paul R.Garabedian, Zeev Nehari, Dennis A.Hejhal and many others. The author expounds his general ideas in detail, but does not give all the proofs of theorems. For the sake of brevity, only the essence of each theorem has been mentioned.
