Synopsis

In 1957, the neighborhood bounded by 92nd and Wallace, on the south side of Chicago, was pretty evenly divided between poor Irish-Catholics and Blacks. They shared a tragic history and dreams for a better future and were separated only by railroad tracks and the color of their skin.Just Us is the story of how two of those lives took dramatically different paths until fate reunited them years later in the gritty steel town of Gary, Indiana. Tommy O’Brien was in charge of the federal narcotics task force and Cool Freddy was overseeing the drug trade, but wanted out. Very powerful forces were determined that neither would succeed in their quests. Their reunion will take the reader on a wild ride. You’ll visit the White House, a mansion in Georgetown, a plantation in Mississippi, the French Quarter of New Orleans and a vision of Hell called Algiers. It’s the supporting cast of characters, like in Apache Dunes, that makes the story so fascinating. It includes the Mafia, LBJ, a Jesuit Priest, a D.C. fixer, corrupt Federal Judges, drug dealers and some memorable denizens of “The Big Easy.” If you like action, suspense and authentic dialogue with a healthy dose of humor—all leading up to an unforgettable ending—buckle up and come along for a great literary ride!
