In March 2020 we experienced the onset of a health concern few living Americans have ever faced-one that meant drastic changes in our day-to-day lives. Asked not to leave our homes, except for emergencies and grocery hauls, many of us have formed new relationships with our kitchens. Some of us have found the time to dig into simmering culinary interests and experiment with unfamiliar ingredients. Others have found comfort revisiting the long-tested recipes of our families. And some of us have thrown up our hands altogether and passed the spatula to our partner for a change!
This book is a collection of over 60 recipes from folks navigating feeding themselves and their families at home in new ways. My 30-plus gracious cookbook contributors come from a wide variety of disciplines and cities. They are my friends of many talents, from bona fide culinary powerhouses to do-it-all moms, attorneys, writers, doctors, creatives, grandmothers, business owners and more. Their recipes offer a wide range of the complex to the simple, and of très fancy to just "gettin' her done". One recipe may call for fresh seafood or fresh herbs, while another uses long-forgotten pantry-scavenged powder seasoning packets. All are valid, all are delicious, and all are keeping us keeping on.
