Most Diversity and Inclusion efforts focus too much on others, and lack in developing self-awareness. They leave some feeling excluded and fail to create real measurable impact for marginalized populations. Through the creation of the Creating Belonging Model, I believe that the greatest impact can be made when we begin with deep self-awareness and self-acceptance, pivoting quickly to a radical acceptance of others. When we balance our own authenticity with acceptance, we create belonging for everyone in the community.
