Three respected Scottish doctors - psychiatrist Steve Hartford, paediatric surgeon Grey Lochran and cosmetic surgeon Robert Forrest - have been close friends since their Edinburgh boyhoods, and now live handsomely in suburban London. But for each, midlife has brought certain discontents, especially for Forrest, a reformed womaniser who broods over his fading looks and the departure of his beautiful younger girlfriend. When Dr Forrest goes missing one summer evening and fails to return, Lochran and Hartford are alarmed by the thought of what might have befallen their friend. The police can find no evidence of foul play, but the two doctors resolve to conduct their own investigation. Soon, however, Lochran and Hartford find themselves bedevilled by bizarre, unnerving events, and the attentions of menacing strangers. Robert Forrest, they come to realise, has remained closer than they could ever have imagined...

'A thrilling Gothic 2.0... paying homage to a genre that [Kelly] clearly knows intimately and loves dearly.' --Times, May 14 2011
'In The Possessions of Doctor Forrest, Richard T Kelly has put his own original stamp on the [gothic horror] genre.'
--Financial Times, May 21 2011
'Richard T. Kelly's new novel is a rattlingly good yarn that wears a bloody Gothic heart on its sleeve.' --Metro, June 2 2011
'A very satisfying thriller... marshalled with a real feel for pace [and] character.' --The List, May 28 2011
'The Possessions of Doctor Forrest drags the gothic novel kicking and screaming into this new century replete with its own horrors and demons; and confirms Richard T Kelly as one of the most imaginative novelists of his generation.'
David Peace (author, Red Riding Quartet, The Damned Utd)
'Gripping... Fiendishly clever... it kept me intrigued to the end. It combines the mystery element of a good detective novel with the creepiness of a horror story.'
Charles Palliser (author, The Quincunx)
`Not even David Cronenberg, master of body-shock horror, has come up with anything as chilling as the tale that unfolds in Doctor Forrest. Mr. Hyde suddenly seems a quaint and pleasant companion...'
Kevin Macdonald (film director, The Eagle, The Last King of Scotland)
