Soft cover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: No Jacket, as Issued. First UK Paperback Edition. A first printing of the first UK paperback edition of the definitive collection of poems from "the best and most representative American poet." [Harold Bloom]. The book first appeared in the UK in 1955, but apparently was rushed into print and contained a number of errors. The 1959 edition followed with the errors corrected. This is the first Faber paperback edition published in 1984. ***Near fine in the familiar 1980s Pentagram-designed typographical covers with a portrait of the author on the front cover. The covers are clean, with just some light marks and rubbing at the edges, and with a light crease to the bottom corner of the back cover. No significant creases and no tears. No bumps - corners sharp. No fading even to the spine. There is an original Dillons Bookshops label on the back cover. Contents also nice and clean, with no inscriptions. Paper stock just slightly tanned with age. No annotations and no creases. ***198 mm x 124 mm. 534 pages plus a five page 'Index of Titles of Poems' at the back of the book. ***Contents: Harmonium, Ideas of Order, The Man With the Blue Guitar, Parts of a World, Transport to Summer, The Auroras of Autumn, The Rock. ***'This collection of the work of one of the greatest modern poets, the master of the lyrical meditation, was first published in America in 1954, when Stevens was seventy-five. He selected the poems himself from volumes covering more than four decades. A section of late poems, "The Rock", appeared first in this volume.' [Quote taken from the back cover] ***A first Faber paperback edition of "Collected Poems" by American poet Wallace Stevens, published in 1984, in very nice clean undamaged condition. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc. Seller Inventory # PB391
