Synopsis
Linked to a BBC1 television series in October and November 1995, this book charts the development of insects over 400 million years, exploring their colonization of land, sea and air. With the help of computer animation and microscopic photography, the book creates a natural history from a science-fiction angle, and shows how, in their appearance and behaviour, insects are as close to an alien life-form as anything on earth.
