About the Author

Esther van Praag, Ph.D. After obtaining her M.sc. from the Rijksuniversity of Leiden (the Netherlands), Dr. van Praag graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (Rehovot, Israel) in 1996, with research on plant carbohydrate metabolism, and 3-D computer protein modeling in a joint-project with the Weizmann Institute of Sciences (Rehovot, Israel). She continued her training with 2 postdoctoral positions at the Dept of Microbiology, University of Zurich (Zurich, Switzerland) and at the Dept of Child Pathology, University Hospital of Zurich (Zurich, Switzerland). Dr. van Praag has always had a great interest in animals, and has a 20 years' experience with pet rabbits. She is member of online rabbit forums, is involved in educational activities such as the production of videos on veterinary rabbit topics, and runs the MediRabbit.com website, dedicated to rabbit healthcare. Dr. van Praag now lives in Geneva (Switzerland), with 2 rabbits.

Amir Maurer, DVM Dr. Maurer graduated with the highest honors from the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Szent Istavn University (Budapest, Hungary) in 2001. He continued to the UK where he successfully passed the examinations of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and was registered as a member (MRCVS). Dr. Maurer has a long standing interest in exotic animals kept as pets, their husbandry, medicine and surgery with their welfare as the most important aspect of daily clinical practice with these species. Dr. Maurer sees referred cases and first opinion cases at his "Veterinary Center for Pets and Exotic Animals" clinic in Holon, Israel.

Tal Saarony, MFA Tal Saarony graduated from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan (USA) with a Master of Fine Arts degree in 1991. She later moved to Japan to research and study Japanese textiles at Kyoto Institute of Technology. Her interest in working with language was acquired while living, studying, and working in different regions of the world. T. Saarony has been caring for rabbits for many years and has often been disappointed by the scarcity of resources available to rabbit owners and veterinarians. Her interest in rabbit health and well-being led her to volunteer to proofread and revise articles on the Medirabbit.com website and resulted in collaboration on the book "Skin Diseases of Rabbits"; she is committed to the educational goals of the project. T. Saarony traveled to the USA from Japan with her 3 rabbits. They live in Massachusetts (USA).
