About the Author
Lyn Andrews was born and brought up on Merseyside, the daughter of a policeman. Now married to a policeman, she is the mother of grown-up triplets. She is the author of The White Empress, The Sisters O'Donnell, Liverpool Lou, Ellan Vannin, The Leaving of Liverpool, Maggie May, Mist Over the Mersey and Mersey Blues.

They were called The Sisters O'Donnell in County Tipperary. They resembled each other a lot - both in temper and looks. They all had the flaming red hair of the O'Donnell clan and tempers to match. When they came to seek their fortunes in the Liverpool of the 20's, they were full of ambition, hope, and a lust for life. Gina planned to be a star of the theatre, Mary Kate wanted to find a husband. And Bridget - gentle, timid Bridget - just wanted to get away from the fighting all around her and have a calm, peaceful life. But Liverpool wasn't what they thought it would be, and neither was their Aunt Maura, who was supposed to set them on their paths to fortune. Maura turned out to be a miserable slattern, and Uncle Bart was a scrounging and lascivious old man. Work was impossible to find and their money was running out. The O'Donnell girls had a long way to go before they could realise some of their dreams.
