Synopsis

there is a finely robust quality about Norah Lofts story of eighteenth century adventure... It moves fast, its people are not the stagey swash-buckling types so often to be found in such romances, and it holds your attention... Hester is a most likeable creature and this piicturesque record of her changing fortunes reads remarkably well.
